Film production is a very broad field. The advertising films we create in Poznań, Łódź, or Krakow differ in terms of scripts, method of production, and the budget required for their proper implementation.
Below are the most frequently asked questions about the promotional, image, and advertising films we produce. Krakow, Poznań, Warsaw, and Łódź are the cities in which we work.
How much will it cost to produce the film?
The final costs of film production depend on many factors. In order to precisely estimate the budget that needs to be secured for the film production to be fully implemented in line with the Client’s vision, we must first get to know the exact script. It is the film script that allows us to know the degree of development of the film production, the number of actors, extras and film locations. First of all, we need to know what kind of cooperation the Client expects from us. Is it a comprehensive film production, from creating a script concept, through film production, to broadcasting the finished film on TV, or just the production of an advertising spot according to a finished script. The final valuation of a film production also depends on the fields of exploitation of the finished work, i.e. where the film will be broadcast. Producing films for television or cinema is definitely more expensive than producing advertisements for the Internet. Creating films for the Internet often does not require expensive cameras and a crew of several dozen people. Cheaper films are more often shot for the Internet, but with a more creative script. On the other hand, film and television production requires greater financial outlays necessary to employ an extensive crew and high-class equipment. On film and advertising sets, we usually work using RED and ARRI film cameras. The film crew then numbers from a dozen to several dozen people. Films made using this technique are characterized by the highest possible quality. When creating internet videos, we usually work on professional 4K Sony cameras. With this type of film production, the crew is smaller, and the method of making the film itself is often less complicated.
I want to make a film with you. What information should I give you so that you can estimate the costs of film production?
In order to estimate the initial price range of the film production costs, we need to familiarize ourselves with the script. It is equally important to provide us with information about where the film will be broadcast and to whom it is addressed. On our website, in the Contact -> brief tab, you can find a file with a list of information that we need to estimate the film production. The final estimate of the film production costs depends on many factors, so the sooner we collect all the information about the project, the sooner we will be able to estimate it. We remind you that we carry out film production in cities such as Poznań, Kraków, Warsaw, and Wrocław.
Do you need a detailed film script from me?
At the very beginning of our cooperation, it will be enough for us to familiarize ourselves with a rough concept of the film’s production written down in a dozen or so sentences. On this basis, we will certainly ask a few more questions to clarify the scope of our cooperation in shooting the film. After receiving the answers, we will be able to provide the appropriate “price range” within which the final production of the film should fit.
What equipment do you use to shoot videos?
We produce promotional, advertising and image films, as well as music videos using various types of equipment. It is also selected for film and television production – in terms of budget and the effect we want to achieve. For cheaper projects, we use professional Sony and Canon cameras with high-class lenses. We carry out high-budget orders using renowned RED and ARRI cameras. It is important to remember that films are not created by expensive cameras, but by people. The best and most expensive tools on the market will not automatically create a great image. The most important basis for all advertising, corporate or image films is an appropriately intriguing script. We have often operated on a limited budget, without the most expensive equipment, creating nationwide campaigns and television commercials that conquered Polish media.
How much does it cost to produce 2D/3D animation?
The production of 2D and 3D animations is a very different matter, but is increasingly used, for example, in the case of advertising spots of the largest brands – whether from Poznań, Kraków, Łódź or Warsaw. 2D animations seem to be slightly less complicated to implement, but they can often be much more complex than 3D animations. In the case of the former, we work on flat two-dimensional objects, which we move appropriately in three-dimensional space. As a result, they are often simply “flat films”, where the action takes place in one visual plane. In turn, in 3D animation, we work on spatial objects. Then we see many planes. When watching, we have the impression that the action takes place in a way similar to a film. As a rule, creating a 2D animation is cheaper than a 3D animation, for which three-dimensional objects must be modeled. The final price, as always, depends on the final effect we want to achieve. The more complicated the animation, the higher the price of its implementation.
Do you provide actors/extras for films?
Yes, we offer comprehensive film production. When a client implements a project with us, they receive access to all knowledge, a database of extras, actors, technicians and a whole range of specialists who have also been working in the film post-production industry for years. We approach each order in a fully comprehensive manner. We produce films in their entirety – starting from creating the first concept of the script, through production, ending with the organization of television broadcast.
How big of a crew will be working on my film?
The extent of the film crew depends on how advanced the project is. In large film and television productions, the entire group can even reach several dozen people. In small projects, it can be correspondingly smaller, but it is always based on specialists necessary to achieve high production quality. The most important person on the set – regardless of whether it is the production of commercials or the production of business films – is the director. He is responsible for the final shape of the film. He often works with the scriptwriter (who prepares the film’s script), the cameraman (responsible for the lighting of scenes in the film), the cameraman (dealing with camera movement on the set) and, above all, with the actors. The director’s role is similar to that of a conductor in an orchestra. In every film crew, even the smallest, a sound engineer and lighting technicians are also necessary. More complex film sets require several dozen specialists who work together to make the finished film as closely as possible in accordance with the assumed vision.
What are the fields of film exploitation?
The fields of exploitation of a film are the places where the film will be broadcast or published. They play a key role when it comes to estimating the final budget of the undertaking. The involvement of the right actors has a major impact on the cost of each film production. Performers playing in a television commercial expect much higher rates than performers appearing in an advertising spot intended for broadcast on the Internet. This results from the fact that the reach of television is much greater and the advertisement displayed on it will be seen by a larger group of people than its online version. That is why the rates of actors for appearing in a television commercial, including the transfer of rights to use the image, range from PLN 2,000 to even PLN 2,000,000 net. Based on previous experience, we always ask our Clients one basic question – where will the advertising spot be broadcast?
Will you do a making of from the film set?
We are happy to make a making of our film productions. Regardless of whether we work in a larger city such as Krakow, Poznan, Lodz, Warsaw, or in a smaller town, we believe that with a little effort it is easy to create an interesting making of. It is a great souvenir for both our Clients and us. More importantly, a well-made behind-the-scenes film can be used to promote the final commercial.
How long do the individual stages of film production take (pre-production, production, post-production)?
The duration of a film production depends on the amount of work that needs to be put into its creation. The production of TV commercials or Internet commercials usually takes from 14 to 30 days. The first stage, pre-production, is a period of intensive preparation, which includes, among others, developing scripts, casting, rehearsing dialogues, assembling the film crew and the appropriate equipment. It usually takes from one to two weeks. During the production itself, we have to be as organized as possible. When we enter the set, regardless of whether it is in Poznań, Kraków, Wrocław or Warsaw, each member of the crew must know their tasks precisely in order to operate efficiently. There is no room for mistakes or improvisation during film production. We work according to a previously established plan. The entire film crew puts a lot of effort into ensuring that the finished commercial is fully consistent with the vision of the director and the client. This part of film production usually lasts from 2 to 10 days. The final stage is post-production, which includes editing the finished film, color correction, and preparing the film for broadcast and distribution. It usually takes from 7 to 21 days.
